Cheese Calories

Cheese is a fairly popular food consumed world wide. Tasty as it may be, people often have concerns about whether it is a ‘good food’ or a ‘bad food’.

It is a ‘good food’ to most people especially the young ones who are growing up as it contains a high level of calcium which is good for growing bones. Adults who would like to maintain a strong bone structure would also benefit from having cheese.

Cheese is known to have a low sugar content which is a healthy attribute. A good amount of vitamin B12 and phosphorus is available from the cheese you adore.
Let’s not forget the fact that cheese has high protein content as well regardless of the type.

So what could be wrong with cheese then?

Well, cheese as you know is an animal product implying the fat in it will be saturated…and saturated fats are not the healthiest on the planet. So what’s the message here? I would say, moderation is the key.

Excessive consumption of saturated fat is not advisable because of high cholesterol content and that includes cheese.

Another point to note is that the very nature of cheese manufacturing means it tends to contain high sodium concentration. A lot of salt is usually added to cheese during the manufacturing process to arrest bacterial activity which if left unchecked will result in production of excess lactic acid in the final product. So if you are someone with blood pressure problems, you need to watch the amount you eat given the high sodium content.
