Dieting does not imply avoiding foods like ham. Ham is a good source of protein and proteins are essential for building muscle which helps to accelerate your metabolic rate.

A high metabolic rate means you can burn fat a lot more easily.

Ham provides high niacin, thiamine, selenium and manganese all of which are essential nutrients and it has got very low sugar levels.

The only downside to ham is that it can be high in cholesterol levels as well as sodium.
